Project: St. John’s By The Campus Episcopal Church Addition/Renovation

Location: Ames, Iowa

This project involved a total renovation of the historic existing facility as well as the addition of two new wings. The project required a new service and sub-panel system; new and supplementary lighting; refurbishing and rewiring of existing sanctuary fixtures; new dimming and sound systems; and a new fire alarm system.

Nelson Electric encouraged the church to retain the traditional lighting, which was dim and insufficient for the church’s needs, and supplement it with new modern and efficient lighting. This was accomplished effectively and didn’t alter the historic character of the main sanctuary and adjacent areas of the church.

Nelson Electric received a Project of the Year Award in 1997 from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Iowa for this project.
